Monique + Eric

Monique felt glamorous, classy, and radiant in her Laudae gown as they celebrated their wedding day against snowy backdrop!

“When Eric and I got engaged in March 2021 we set to work planning our May 2022 wedding. I used to walk by Sash and Bustle on Queen Street East and say “That’s where I’m going to get my wedding dress” so I knew where I had to start my dress search. After a few rescheduled appointments due to COVID closures, I found my dream dress (Kloof by Laudae) with the help of Brendan in June! I felt absolutely incredible – I knew it was the one even before I tried it on. It was just the right amount of classy, modern and sexy – I loved it!

Fast forward a few months and we found out that we were expecting and I was due in June 2022 – just two weeks after our original wedding date! Enter #bumpitup. We decided to bump our wedding up to January 2022 and had just three short months to re-plan the wedding. Thankfully all our vendors were available in January, but would my dress be ready?! I called the team at Sash and Bustle and they were so supportive, helpful, and understanding. They contacted the designer and we ordered extra material. They even drew up some sketches of how to alter the dress to make space for a small baby bump!

My dress arrived in December and I picked it up with my Mom. It was just as beautiful as I remembered but as I tried it on I experienced a tidal wave of emotion feeling as though I skipped over being a bride and was moving straight to being a mom. It was a bittersweet moment that I can’t put into words, but I was still looking forward to wearing my dream dress and marrying my best friend the following month.

With some incredible craftmanship and wizardry, my dress was altered to make room for Baby P just in time for the wedding! But before we could pop the champagne, we were thrown another curveball. In early January, indoor dining was closed again until at least the end of January which meant we could not have our wedding reception. With the support of our amazing friends, family, and wedding vendors, we decided to go through with our ceremony. We were so ready to start our married life together and prepare for our little one’s arrival.

As I stepped into my dress on January 22nd, I thought about the road to get to this day. Even though it wasn’t the day I’d imagined, I felt glamourous, classy, radiant, and finally, like a bride. The team at Sash and Bustle played a huge part in getting me to this moment – I had the best experience from day one.

Looking back, I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day and can’t wait to share this story with my daughter. She arrived safely on May 26th 2022.”
