“Our main priority for our wedding was making it enjoyable and staying true to who we are as a couple. We were less focused on “perfect” than on having fun. We aren’t super traditional so the Drake Hotel was the perfect funky backdrop for our nuptials. When I was shopping for my dress my goal was to find something that made me feel special and comfortable but not like I was wearing a bride costume. Sash + Bustle was my first stop and the dress I ended up choosing was the first one I tried on! I tried on maybe 20 others over the next month but nothing compared to that first one. I loved the drama of the bow and the simplicity of the lines. In lieu of I veil I opted for some amazing opera gloves from Cornelia James (who does all the gloves for Bridgerton!) to up the drama.
A tradition I did want to stick to was something borrowed, blue, old and new. For my borrowed item I carried a vintage beaded purse from my Groom’s maternal grandmother. I chose a pair of Tory Burch heels in a blue brocade to be my something blue. Possibly the most sentimental piece of my outfit was the necklace I wore, my mother passed down her engagement ring to me and since I already had one I decided to get it reset into a necklace. I worked with local jewelry designed Meg Lizabet to design a pendant using the diamond and the gold from the band. It’s a piece I will treasure forever and hopefully pass on to my children one day.
Now of course for my something new I had my dress- Savvy by Wtoo from Sash + Bustle. It made me feel like an absolute movie star and fit so perfectly (no alterations needed!). I know that I will look back on the photos and remember how beautiful and special I felt. I am so grateful to the team at S&B for all their help in finding my dress, making me feel like a bride and advocating for me in front of my lace-loving mother. I recommend Sash + Bustle to anyone looking for a positive and memorable gown shopping experience!”
