Meet Ruby

Ruby just arrived in the shop today, along with a few more lovely bridal alternatives by Coren Moore. Can’t you just picture youself getting married in the middle of a vineyard in this pretty little frock? Or perhaps wearing Ruby to your rehearsal dinner, or after party? Maybe you are getting married at City Hall and need a little white dress to make it “official”?

Ruby is made with luxurious pearl silk shantung with an overlay of white dotted tulle, and just a hint of a crinoline gives this dress some extra volume. Ruby is Flirty with a capital F!

A Sweet Remembrance

Many brides and grooms face their wedding plans with some sadness as a cherished Mom or Dad, or Grandparents have passed away before a wedding day for their children/grandchildren takes place. They are typically remembered during the wedding day in many different ways – perhaps a photograph is set up on display with a candle, or a chair of honour is set in their memory at a ceremony service or a dinner table.

I recently came across a beautiful line of personalized jewelry and accessories, Planet Jill, which specializes in creating custom photo necklaces, bracelets, and many other beautiful gifts and accessories.

Two that stood out to me in particular were their photo remembrance ribbons, and photo lapel pins. Both options are a beautiful way to incorporate a beloved family member into a wedding – the ribbons are perfect attachments for a Bride’s bouquet, and the lapel pins are perfect for a Groom’s tuxedo.

Sash & Bustle will be carrying the Planet Jill line in Toronto in late September, if you would like to consider incorporating one of these remembrances into your day, feel free to contact us to make an appointment to view the collection.

Shrug Your {Bridal} Shoulders

We love Elizabeth Dye’s dreamy shrugs and boleros. There is such an ethereal quality to her designs. I ALWAYS feel cold, even on a hot Summer day, so these little wisps of fabric are perfect for keeping the chill of an evening breeze in check. View these and other designs at Elizabeth’s shop: The English Dept.

Sash & Bustle is Bringing Sexy Back

So excited to place our sample orders for some slinky, sexy bridal alternatives from amazing designer Lynn Lugo! Can’t you just picture these lovely dresses in a beach ceremony by the ocean in the Caribbean, or how about amongst the vines in a beautiful ceremony in Napa Valley?

Bridal Alternatives are a specialty of Sash & Bustle – our dresses feature cleaner lines, but are still made using premium fabrics like matte crepe and silk satin. You will also find that our collections of alternative bridal gowns have an added benefit of coming in at a slightly less expensive price point than traditional wedding gowns. Instead of spending thousands, our alternatives are typically priced from $500.00 – $1500.00. We will have samples of these two gorgeous gowns in the boutique later this Fall – watch the blog for notification when they arrive!

Hot Colour Trend for Bridesmaid Dresses

Coral continues to be such a hot colour trend for weddings and bridesmaid dresses.

In my other business venture, I am designing at least 4 weddings in 2010 that are all featuring coral as a primary colour element in their wedding design scheme. Coral and white, coral and oyster/taupe, and coral and gold are all very popular combinations.

I love, love, love coral because it is a VERY flattering shade on many types of skin tones -it warms up paler complexions, and complements darker skin tones. Not to mention the healthy glow that the perfect shade of coral seems to give every girl who wears it.

And, for those pink-averse Grooms, coral is pretty fabulous substitute for those girlier pinks – it’s still feminine, but not too over the top which means your Groom can probably deal with Coral as one of your wedding colours!
